In May this year, spiked contributor Barbara Hewson caused a furore with her article calling into question the merits of Operation Yewtree and the police investigation into alleged sexual offences by the late DJ and TV presenter Jimmy Savile and others. Hewson also raised the question of lowering the age of consent in the UK from 16 to 13.

In this interview for Channel 4 News earlier this month, Hewson discusses her article with Krishnan Guru-Murthy, dismissing the idea of Satanic ritual abuse as no more real than alien abduction, arguing that the cases against Savile serve no purpose and pointing out that the current age of consent is itself the result of the reaction to a Victorian moral panic.
