Supporter Terms
1. Account registration
If you register with spiked to access supporter-only or unlimited content, you agree to keep your username and password confidential and not share these details with any third party. You also agree not to register multiple accounts. You further agree not to reproduce, distribute or share any supporter-only or paywalled content (including text, video or audio) with anyone who does not have supporter access, except by using the sharing tools we provide (for example, limited free links or social shares where available). We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, or if we reasonably believe your account is being used in an illegal, fraudulent or abusive manner. In addition to these terms, you may also be subject to any specific offer terms provided at the time you join or renew your supporter account.
2. Becoming a supporter
To become a spiked supporter, please visit dev.spiked-online.com/supporters. You must be 18 years or older and legally able to enter into a contract under the laws of your country of residence. By registering as a supporter, you confirm that all registration and payment information you provide is accurate and kept up to date.
Existing supporters can sign in to the app using their spiked account. Subscriptions are purchased and managed through the spiked website and are not currently available to buy through the app. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
3. What does it cost?
Details of current supporter options and pricing are available at dev.spiked-online.com/supporters. Supporter subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel as described below. Any change to your subscription price will take effect at your next renewal, and we will notify you beforehand. We reserve the right to introduce new paid products or change the structure of existing supporter tiers. If additional benefits or discounts are introduced for new supporters, we are under no obligation to provide identical benefits to existing supporters. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider; spiked does not store your card details.
4. Access and benefits
Supporters receive: – Unlimited access to spiked’s online content – An ad-free reading experience – An app – Bonus content and supporter-only events – Early-bird and discounted tickets for live events – Access to comments and bookmarking features. Benefits are personal to each supporter and may not be transferred. We may make reasonable changes to supporter benefits. If a change significantly reduces the main benefits of your subscription, we will give you reasonable notice. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Access to the comments section is subject to our moderation rules, and we may remove comments or restrict access where necessary to maintain a respectful discussion. We will notify supporters when their subscription term is due for renewal. While we aim to provide continuous access, we cannot guarantee that the site will always be available or error-free. We may apply reasonable limits to prevent misuse and protect the service.
5. Using the app
You may install and use the app on your own devices for personal, non-commercial use. Your use of the app is also subject to the rules of the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on where you downloaded it. You must not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or misuse the app.
6. App updates and compatibility
We may update the app to improve it, fix problems or meet legal and security requirements. You may need a supported device, operating system or current version of the app to continue using it.
5. Devices and technical requirements
You can access your spiked supporter account on any standard internet-connected device, including modern browsers on desktop, tablet or mobile (iOS12 / Android 9 or later recommended).
6. Notifications
If you enable app notifications, we may send editorial alerts and information about spiked events. You can turn notifications off through your device settings at any time.
7. Payments and defaults
If a payment fails, we may ask you to update your payment details and may suspend supporter access until payment is received. We may end the subscription if payment remains outstanding after reasonable notice. We will not charge you more than is properly due.
8. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel your supporter subscription within 14 days of joining for any reason and receive a full refund. Your access to supporter benefits will stop immediately upon cancellation. You can cancel before your next renewal via the supporters hub, app, or by emailing [email protected] from your registered email address. Please allow enough time for us to process your request before the renewal payment is taken. If you cancel after a renewal has been processed, your subscription will remain active until the end of that billing period. No partial refunds are offered for mid-term cancellations.
9. Deleting your subscription
You can request deletion of your account in the app, in the My Spiked section or by emailing [email protected]. We will delete the account information we no longer need, although we may retain limited records where required for legal or financial reasons. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription or delete your account.
10. Event tickets and refunds
Tickets are sold by spiked through the Ticket Tailor booking platform, including where the booking page is opened from our app. Your contract for the ticket is with spiked. Any event-specific terms and refund information will be shown when you book.
Tickets for spiked events may be cancelled for a full refund up to 21 days before the event date.
Refunds are not available within 21 days of the event date, except at the sole discretion of spiked.
Where a refund is granted within 21 days of the event date, spiked reserves the right to deduct any unrecoverable costs, including booking fees, payment-processing charges and any other costs incurred in connection with the booking.
Tickets may not be transferred, resold or exchanged without the prior written consent of spiked.
If spiked cancels an event, ticket holders will be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price paid.
11. Changes to terms
We may amend these terms at any time to ensure compliance with law or to improve the supporter experience. Any significant changes will be communicated to you by email or via the spiked website.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by English law. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you retain any mandatory rights provided by the law of your country, and you may bring a claim in any court entitled to hear it.
13. Fraud prevention
We may verify supporter details against fraud-prevention databases when processing payments or event applications. If we decline your application, any payment made will be refunded in full.
14. Reader comments
Readers are responsible for the comments they post and must not post anything unlawful, threatening, defamatory, invasive of privacy, or infringing another person’s rights.
We do not approve or endorse reader comments and cannot review every comment before it appears. We may remove comments or restrict commenting where we reasonably consider this necessary to comply with the law, protect others or enforce our moderation rules. We will not remove a comment merely because it expresses a lawful opinion with which we or others disagree.
You retain ownership of your comments. By posting a comment, you confirm that it is your own or that you have permission to post it, and give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, display, store and moderate it as part of our Services. This licence continues for as long as the comment remains on our Services and for a reasonable period in backups and archives.
Concerns about a comment can be reported to [email protected].
