The Pajama Men: sublime silliness

After a two-year absence from the Fringe, the New Mexico improv duo/made-flesh cartoon characters the Pajama Men have returned to Edinburgh with an Acme-anvil thump. Alongside their newly devised show, 2 Man 3 Musketeers, a compilation of their most inspired bits and improv games called Pterodactyl Nights is enough to make you fall in love with them all over again.
From writing love letters in the Arctic to enacting a chess match between a grand master and a bat, Shenoah Allen and Mark Chavez make silliness sublime. Heads and shoulders above the Whose Line-lite offerings in the upstairs of pubs across Edinburgh, the Pajama Men don’t reach for easy gags, but craft surreal situations that are all the more hilarious when they, inevitably, collapse in on themselves.
If you’re the sort of person who likes unbridled comedic joy, don’t miss it.

Pajama Men: Pterodactyl Nights is at Assembly George Square Studios until 22 August.
